Vor kurzem hatte ich mir überlegt, ob ich beim mobile swap von meg mitmache. Ich habe mich dagegen entschieden und das war auch gut so, denn ich hätte keine Zeit gehabt eines herzustellen. Aber mittlerweile stolpere ich ständig über mobiles, so dass ich mir nun überlege, trotzdem eines herzustellen.

Momentan hängt da zwar noch der Stern, aber der muss jetzt dann auch gehen. Und dann wäre das der ideale Platz. Oder etwa nicht? In meinem Bastelbuch hab ich das hier gesehen, was mich sehr inspiriert hat. Da könnte man was richtig tolles draus machen.

A while ago, I wondered whether I should participate in meg’s mobile swap. I decided against it and that was the right decision, since I would not have had enough time to make one. But somehow I seem to stumble across all of these great mobiles, so that I am truly thinking about making one myself.

I have just searched flickr and found even more mobiles for inspiration.

Es ist fertig! Und Linus würde sein Krokodilskostüm am liebsten den ganzen Tag anziehen. Da hatte der Papa ja wirklich mal eine tolle Idee. Ich bin immernoch begeistert von der Umsetzung, denn ich hab nicht viel Zeit investiert und trotzdem ist das Krokodil erkennbar.

Fürs Gesicht oder den Kopf wird es nichts geben: Ich habe Linus gefragt und er findet das Krokodil so fertig und er möchte auch keine Krokodilsmütze aufsetzen. Meine Idee war, ein Basecap mit dem grünen Fleece zu beziehen, auf die Stirn (der Mütze) Augen aus Filz zu applizieren sowie am Schild an den Seiten Zähne ebenfalls aus Filz anzubringen. Aber so ist es auch schön. Ich bin zufrieden.

It is finished! And Linus would love to wear his crocodile costume all day. Dad’s idea turning him into a crocodile was really great. I am very pleased with the outcome since I did not put in a lot of time and the crocodile is definately visible.

Linus and I decided that we will not make anything for his face or head. He thinks that the costume is perfect the way it is and he also does not want to wear a hat all day. So I will go along. My original idea was to take a basecap (if it was green it would have been very easy) cover it with green fleece and put eyes and teeth on it. But this will do, too. I am happy that way and he is, too.

Gestern gab es bei uns Semmelschmarrn - oh, so lecker! Da ich noch nie Essen auf dem Teller fotografiert habe und in vielen Blogs immer diese schönen gestellten Fotos sehe, wollte ich das auch probieren. Für den Anfang find ich das schon mal ganz gut und das Bild passt dann auch zu meiner Frage.

Ich habe irgendwann mal Geburtstag und habe ein paar Freundinnen zum Frühstück eingeladen. Jetzt möchte ich aber nicht nur Brötchen und Marmelade anbieten, was könnte ich denn noch machen? Vielleicht irgendne Käsecreme? Hab vor ein paar Tagen eine leckere Lachscreme gegessen. Passt sowas zum Frühstück oder eher Brunch, denn die Damen gehen sicher erst wieder, wenn es Zeit wird die Großen vom Kindergarten abzuholen. Habt ihr leckere Rezepte, Tipps? Ich bin so einfallslos und möchte aber gerne etwas Besonderes.

Der Teller ist übrigens hier gekauft, ich liebe dieses Geschirr, hab aber bisher nur Elefant und Fisch. Besteck und Schüssel sind schon alt, sind Hochzeitsgeschenke meiner Eltern, die ich mir unter den Nagel gerissen hab.

Yesterday we had this sweet dish for lunch. (There is no translation in my leo for that.) I really wanted to try taking one of these yummy looking food pictures I see on all those blogs out there. It is quite ok for my first one. Since I have a food question, it also fits quite well in here.

The plate was bought here, I love this dinnerware but unfortunately have only got the elephant and the fish. The cutlery and the bowl in the background are quite vintage, they have been given to my parents as wedding presents.

Es ist bereits eine Woche her, da bekam ich diese wunderbare Auszeichnung von Caro. Ich fühle mich geehrt, denn dieser Blog und die Leute, die hier immer fleißig kommentieren, sind der Grund, warum ich meine Abende nicht mehr vor dem Fernseher verbringe, sondern immer wieder neue kreative Ideen umsetze. Vielen Dank, liebe Caro!

Bis vor zwei Tagen wollte sich Linus gar nicht verkleiden. Ihr könnt Euch gar nicht vorstellen, welch Stein mir vom Herzen fiel. Ich hatte nämlich überhaupt keine Lust mir ein Kostüm aus den Fingern zu saugen.

Eines der Gespräche hat der Papa gehört und sich gleich mit eingeklingt: “Magst Du Dich nicht als Krokodil verkleiden? Wenn Du sowieso immer das Linus-Krokodil bist?!” - “Mama, ich geh als Krokodil, da will ich mich verkleiden.”

Na, danke auch. Und wie bitteschön mach ich jetzt aus dem Kind ein Krokodil? Die Erzieherin im Kindergarten brachte mich nun auf die Idee und seither wurschteln die Gedanken. Heute vormittag habe ich unpassende (= falsche Farbe fürs Kind) Kleidung rausgesucht, sowie grüne Textilfarbe, grünen Fleece, grüne Zackenlitze und grünes Stickgarn gekauft.

Und dann hab ich alles erstmal fotografiert. Man kann ja schließlich nie wissen, wozu man diese Fotos noch gebrauchen kann. Anschließend wurden Hose und Shirt maigrün gefärbt. Als Linus aus dem Kindergarten kam, hab ich ihm erzählt was ich mache und schon war das nächste Problem geboren: “Und wo ist das Gesicht vom Krokodil?” Das frage ich mich auch, allerdings ist das schon viel zu weit vorgegriffen, denn morgen geht es weiter mit der grünen Kleidung!

Up until two days ago, Linus did not want to dress up for carnival. You cannot imagine how glad I was since I did not want to make up a costume from scratch.

And then I just took a picture of all that. You never know what you could do with such pictures. Afterwards I dyed the shirt and pants in a wonderful green color called maygreen. When Linus got home from kindergarten I told him about my quest for crocodile and the next problem arose when he asked: “And what about the crocodile’s face?” The answer to that question is way too far ahead of the story. Tomorrow you will see crocodile green garement.

Ein kurzfristiger Besuch bei den Großeltern hat meinen Zeitplan völlig durcheinander geworfen. Ich hab eine Liste von hier bis Buxtehude und weiss gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll. Doch, ich weiss es schon, aber das ist nicht das Ende, das mir gefällt. Erst der Haushalt, dann die Gänse, dann das Vergnügen und ganz am Schluß des Vergnügens steht das Internet. Ich habe eigentlich viel zu berichten, aber das werde ich dann nachholen, wenn ich mich wirklich frei vor den Rechner setzen kann. Ein kleines Schmankerl hab ich aber doch - die beiden Zusammenfassungen meines project 365.

A visit at grammies on a really short notice just did not work well with my tight schedule. I have a list a mile long and do not know where to start. Ah well, I do know, it is not the end of the list that pleases me. First there is a lot of house work to be done, I have several (too many again) orders of gans_toll and then after that there is spare time. At the end of spare time comes the internet. I will be catching up on my news when I have more time. In the meantime you will have to content with my two summaries on project 365.

Stitching these beads onto the Büxn is really fun and makes them look quite noble. It is easily done while watching TV. I have three more to go, before there will be a new Büxn making session.

Mein Kalender war noch so nackt. Also habe ich ihm eine Hülle gemacht, dass er schön warm bleibt. Ich hab mir den Schnitt selber überlegt - da gibts ja nicht so viel zu denken. Die Umschläge müssen bei weiteren Hüllen noch etwas größer gemacht werden, ansonsten bin ich echt zufrieden.

My calender was somewhat naked, so I made him a cover to keep it warm. I thought up the pattern myself - since there is not much to it. The flaps are a little too short and have to be larger with the next covers, but other than that I am more than satisfied with the result.

Diese Skizze entstand letzten März im Allgäu während einer sonnigen Mittagspause. Diesen März fahren wir wieder dahin, ich hoffe auf schönes Wetter und freue mich schon auf das beeindruckende Bergpanorama.

Last year in March we spent a week in Allgäu (Southern Bavaria). I sketched this during a midday break when the sun warmed our noses and the mountain range looked just gorgeously. This year we are going there again, I hope for good wheather and the impressing scenery.

Dieser wunderbare Autotransporter entstand vor einigen Tagen, als der große Sohn malen wollte. Das läuft dann immer nach folgendem Muster ab: “Mama, ich will malen.” Mama packt die Stifte aus und legt Papier hin, das Kind fährt mit dem Stift dreimal übers Papier und sagt dann: “Mama, mal ein Auto für mich.” Oder einen Traktor mit Anhänger, ein Wohnmobil, ein Lastwagen, ein Jeep, ein Cabrio, einen Betonmischer …

Mittlerweile lasse ich mich nur noch auf Deals ein. Also wenn er zuerst etwas malt und sich bemüht, dann male ich, dann wieder er und so weiter. Eine wirklich gelungene Bleistiftzeichnung von mir hängt seit Sonntag in unserem Wohnzimmer, ich habe auch schon mehrfach versucht, das Bild zu fotografieren, aber das ist gar nicht so einfach. Wenn ich es denn mal schaffe, zeig ich es Euch.

This great car transporter is the result of a small art session with my eldest son. This is how it usually works: “Mom, I want to draw.” So Mom takes out the crayons, puts huge paper on the tabele and the kid takes the crayons, scratches across the paper twice and says: “Mom, please draw a car for me.” Or a tractor with trailer, a mobile home, a truck, a jeep, a convertible, a concrete mixer …

I have started to compromise: if he tries to draw something first, I will draw him something of his desire. Then it is his turn again, and so on. A really good pencil drawing by myself is hanging in our living room since Sunday. I have tried repeatedly to take a good picture, but since it is framed that is not as easy as I thought. If I get a decent picture I will show you.

Ich kann mich noch nicht so wirklich durchringen, Lust hätte ich schon. Ich hab nur Angst, dass ich es dann nicht schaffe. Vielleicht seid ihr entscheidungsfreudiger? Hier gehts zu den Anmeldeformalitäten.

Wenn man mal eine Weile dabei ist, dann sammeln sich mehr und mehr Blogs, die man täglich liest. Und das nimmt sehr viel Zeit in Anspruch. Vor einigen Wochen bin ich dabei über das Mozilla Plug-In Brief gestolpert. [Wer es sich dennoch installieren möchte, wird unter anderem hier fündig.] Ich habe es so eingerichtet, wie es mir gefällt und gerne genutzt. Zwei Probleme, sind dabei aufgetreten: Wenn die Feeds aktualisiert wurden, war der Rechner furchtbar langsam. Und saß ich nicht an meinem Rechner, hatte ich auch keine Möglichkeit durch meine liebsten Blogs zu wühlen.

Dann las ich im farbenmix-Blog von Bloglines. Dort habe ich mich vor ein paar Tagen angemeldet und war von der Benutzeroberfläche etwas enttäuscht. Ich fand sie nicht sehr intuitiv und kam nicht wirklich damit zurecht. Dabei würde ich mich selbst als fähige Internetnutzerin bezeichnen. Und dann zeigte mir mein Mann dieses:

Jetzt bin ich also google reader Nutzerin. Und das Ding ist wirklich genial, es kann viel, wenn nicht sogar alles und ist auch in der ästhetischen Gestaltung ein Augenschmaus. Darum gilt meine Empfehlung nun allen, die über ein wenig Zeitersparnis und Bloglesehilfe nachdenken: Probier doch mal google reader. Auch wikipedia schreibt etwas dazu.

When you are hooked, you stumble across great blogs almost every other day. Reading through your blogroll is a time consuming business. A couple of weeks ago I came across Brief, a plug-in for Mozilla. I liked using it, but soon discovered two major disadvantages: when updating blogs the whole computer slowed down. And while not sitting at my computer I was not able to surf my blogs.

And this is IT. It can do much if not all and it is even nicely designed. Therefore my suggestion, if you want to try a feed reader: Try google reader.

Nach einer schönen Silvesterparty mit Studienfreunden, habe ich nun endlich Zeit Euch ein gesundes und erfolgreiches Jahr 2008 zu wünschen. Die Ferien haben sich zu einer Flaute entpuppt - ich blogge kaum und bin nicht kreativ. Das muss auch einmal sein, es war und ist aber bei mir bisher immer schon so gewesen: Nach einer stressigen, arbeitsreichen, zumeist sehr kreativen Phase kommt nach dem Höhepunkt (hier: Heilig Abend), ein damatischer Abfall an Kraft und Motivation. Möglicherweise geht es wieder normal weiter, wenn der Alltag am Montag einkehren wird. Schaumer mal.

After a nice party with friends from universtiy, I now have time to wish you all a healthy and successful new year. The holidays have stopped me - I am not blogging any more and I do not craft. Hopefully, when the days are back to normal, I will be able to continue working on my list. I do have these downs with lack of creativity and motivation after the ups but I did not want one. Since there was no structure in our days, I was not able to steer against them. Well, we will see what Monday brings.
