Es hat sich mittlerweile herausgestellt, dass ich das Geschenk bis morgen nicht fertigstellen kann. Das finde ich ziemlich schade, aber die Zeitumstellung (ich muss jetzt ins Behett), mein Mann, der morgen vormittag arbeiten muss und mir nicht die Kinder abnehmen kann sowie die Tatsache, dass ich keine einzige Nähmaschinennadel mehr habe und ich mit dieser einfach nicht weitermachen kann, lassen das einfach nicht zu. Nun dann werde ich Euch noch ein paar Tage länger mit rätselhaften Bildern drangsalieren.

Unfortunately I will not be finishing the great gift by tomorrow - as originally intended. I am quite disappointed, but the clock change (I really truly should go to bed NOW!), hubby has to work tomorrow morning instead of being able to entertain the kids and the fact that I do not have any more suitable needles left and cannot continue with this one do not tolerate this. Well then, I will be harassing you with mysterious pictures for a couple of more days.

Meine Freundin hat in ein paar Tagen Geburtstag und gestern ist mir das so richtig bewusst geworden. Also war ich heute schon recht fleißig, denn die Idee ist etwas aufwändiger. Das ist ein erster Eindruck meiner Arbeit. Ich werde in den nächsten Tagen immer wieder mal etwas zeigen.

In einem anderen Posting hatte ich ja behauptet, ich könne nicht zeichnen. Das ist auch meistens der Fall, darum sind die wenigen Momente, in denen es mir doch gelingt, das aufs Papier zu bringen, was in meinem Kopf herumgeistert, auch so bemerkenswert.

In diesem Streifen ist mir das ziemlich gut gelungen. Er ist für ein Kunstfach während des Studiums (2003) entstanden und stellt eine S-Bahn-Fahrt durch Berlin dar.

This strip is reflecting a train ride through the center of Berlin. It was done for an art class while at university in 2003.

Beim Einkaufen hat Linus diese tollen Aufkleber entdeckt und dann daraus diese Postkarte beklebt und bemalt. Wir haben sie bereits verschickt und warten nun auf die Reaktion der lieben Tante.

Das Doodlen hat mir so viel Spaß gemacht, dass ich meinem Bruder gleich noch eine Geburtstagskarte gemacht habe. Ich hoffe mal, sie ist heute angekommen. Nochmal: Alles Gute nachträglich zum Geburtstag!

While shopping Linus found these stickers and had to have them. He then made this lovely postcard. We already sent it out and are waiting for the response.

I liked doodling so much that I made a birthday card for my brother. Again: Happy belated birthday!

Ich bin verrückt. Beim Surfen bin ich über diese Seite gestolpert und dabei dann über die Abkürzung ATC. Also hab ich eine Suchmaschine bemüht und herausgefunden, dass ATC artist trading card bedeutet. Diese Seite ist für den Einstieg wunderbar geeignet.

Mich hat es so in den Fingern gejuckt, dass ich mich bei drei ATC-Swaps angemeldet habe und die Aufgaben künsterlisch versucht habe umzusetzen. Mehrere Dinge sind mir dabei aufgefallen:

1. Sobald ich Kunst für jemand anderen produzieren soll, werde ich sehr kritisch was meine Arbeit betrifft.
2. Ich kann doch nicht malen oder zeichnen.
3. Trotzdem macht das irgendwie Spaß.
4. Es gibt im Internet noch mehr, als ich jemals erträumte: Think Monday, think ATC oder auch Theme Thursday.
5. Sogar doodeln ist wahnsinnig schwierig.

Als meine Mutter fragte, was ich da bastelte und ich es ihr erklärte, war ihr einziger Kommentar: “Was für eine Zeitverschwendung.” Kurzzeitig musste ich ihr beipflichten, denn ich bekomme nun ja für jede ATC, die ich verschicke, eine ATC zurück und der Fakt, dass ich diese Karten nun sammeln soll, erscheint mir etwas kindisch. Jetzt warte ich mal diese drei ATC-Swaps ab und sehe dann weiter.

I am crazy, I know that. While surfing I stumbled across this site and while at it I found the abbreviation ATC. So I searched the net a little further and found out that ATC stands for artist trading card. This site is very helpful to get started and read all about ATCs.

When my mom asked what I was doing and I explained it to her, her only comment was: “What a waste of time.” I must admit that after she said that, I also started questioning what I was doing. For every ATC I am sending out I will receive an ATC from somebody else. And the thought of collecting these really seems to be quite childish. Why would I do that? So I will wait and sit through these three swaps and find out after whether I will continue doing senseless, time-consuming ATCs or not.
